Transgender cricket Catherine McGregor didn't have to do much in her Cricket ACT women's debut on Sunday as Wests-UC cruised to victory against Eastlake at Forestry Oval.
McGregor was playing for Wests-UC in the hope of staking her claim to be seriously considered for selection in the women's Big Bash League next month.
"I don't want to over-egg it, I'm a 60-year-old who is playing cricket for fun basically. I'm a bit surprised at the hype surrounding it to be quite truthful," McGregor told Fairfax Media.
"I'd been incredibly careful because I know there is always controversy about trans playing women's sport."

But her Big Bash audition turned into a quiet day at the office. McGregor didn't need to bat or bowl as Wests-UC passed Eastlake's total of 58 with the loss of just one wicket.
McGregor thanked Cricket ACT for giving her the opportunity to play in the match. It is unclear if she will continue to play for Wests-UC or if it was a one-off appearance.

The Canberra Capitals are back! The most successful team in WNBL history announced themselves as back from the dead after beating two-time defending champions the Townsville Fire 81-77 on Saturday night.
It was the Capitals' best win of the past four seasons and they can now be considered a genuine finals threat after restoring pride in the once-mighty club.
The Capitals have struggled to get results in recent years but have rebuilt their team with players from around the globe and the shackles are well and truly broken.

The Canberra Cavalry finished an up-and-down weekend in Brisbane on Sunday afternoon, losing their series against the Bandits after falling 4-2 in the final game.
The Cavalry won just one of three clashes in Brisbane and couldn't carry the momentum of their big win on Saturday night into the last match.
The Bandits scored four runs in their last three innings to clinch the series. It wasn't all bad news for the Cavalry, after they blooded 15-year-old pitcher Brodie Vassalakis on Friday night.

Canberra United have broken through for their first win of the W-League season, beating the Brisbane Roar 1-0 in Brisbane on Sunday.

However, the win could be tarnished by a potential injury to import Jasmyne Spencer, who was carried off the field just before half-time.
Coach Rae Dower dedicated the win to one of her mentors, Guenter Pfuhl, who died last week.
