The 47-year-old resident was arrested by Oxley detectives on Tuesday afternoon and charged with three counts of recklessly causing grievous bodily harm stemming from the fire in the early hours of November 6.
Police will allege the man poured an accelerant on a fire at a party in Little Barber St, sparking an explosion which burnt three teenagers.
A 16-year-old remains in intensive care at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney with burns to more than 40 per cent of his body.
A 17-year-old is also being treated by specialists in the burns unit for serious burns.
A 15-year-old boy has been released from hospital after suffering burns.
The 47-year-old man has been granted conditional bail to appear in court in December.
Oxley Detective Sergeant Jason Darcy told The Leader the charges came after a public appeal for witnesses to the explosion.
“Police were pleased with the response from the Gunnedah community and the information that was provided enabled a swift investigation which led to the arrest of a man on Tuesday,” he said.
