The offenders smashed bottles and left graffiti in the park on the morning of Remembrance Day on Friday.
Armidale’s RSL Sub Branch president Max Tavener arrived before the Remembrance Day service to find council workers busy cleaning up the mess.
“They had to clean up broken bottles and they knocked the top off the Memorial Fountain,” Mr Tavener said.
“They put mud in the moat [fountain] so they [council] had to suck all the water out, clean it and fill it up with fresh water.”
The vandals also damaged poppy plants growing around the Memorial Fountain.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or call the Armidale police on 6771 0699.
