With their first race meet of the season washed out and the second hampered by torrential downpours, the jockey club’s secretary-manager Jim Dedes hopes the weather will be kinder on Sunday.
"I think the weather is going to be kind to us this time so hopefully some people still in the Spring Cup or Melbourne Cup mood might come and over and enjoy a day out,” he said.
I think if we get a nice day it should make a difference and we should get a reasonable crowd.

"I think if we get a nice day it should make a difference and we should get a reasonable crowd.”
Trainers and horses will come from all over the region and as far as Queensland with the aim of claiming some of the big prizemoney on offer.
"They travel from wide and far to come to these meetings because they are $20,000 per race which makes a difference,” Dedes said.
"A few of the hotels around have chucked in at the last minute to sponsor and we hope everyone comes over, enjoys the day and backs a winner.
