THE golfing bug can be hard to shake. Just ask Marie Barnier and Dulcie Newling.
Both have been playing the game for about 40 years.
Last week the Tamworth Lady Golfers commemorated and celebrated their 80th birthdays, presenting them with a cake and special pins to mark the occasion.
It’s a custom the club has been following for about six years.
The two are still actively playing and don’t look like slowing down anytime soon.
“I expect to play until I’m well over 80,” Mrs Barnier said.
She’s been a member at Tamworth since 1977.
“Friends brought me along,” she said.
It’s turned into a pastime she’s enjoyed for over 40 years.
“I love it,” she said.
Mrs Newling has been a member at Tamworth for more than 20 years.
“The 17 years before that I was at Coonamble,” she said.
“I set a goal a few years ago I would play until I’m 80.”
“Now I’ve got there I don’t want to give up.”
