Local police were called to a handful of reports of cars sliding off the roads and a truck losing control on the New England Highway about 3.30pm.
No one was injured but hail stones littered the ground and forced authorities to close the road for a short period of time.

More rain is forecast for the city over the weekend with a glimpse of summer temperatures on the cards.
The weather bureau says there’s more of the wet stuff to come with an 80 per cent chance of between one and five millimetres on Saturday, and a 90 per cent chance of between five and 10mm of rain on Sunday.
Temperatures will continue to climb with 25 degrees on Saturday and 27 degrees forecast on Sunday for Tamworth.
There’s an 80 per cent chance of rain on Monday also with showers clearing just in time for Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday.
