About 200 locals converged on Bicentennial Park for the third annual One Walk for Diabetes, an event which raises awareness and vital money for type 1 diabetes research.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Hunter New England Diabetes Service hosted the four-kilometre walk-a-thon around the park as part of an annual walk held all over the globe.
Type 1 diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases in children, with about 1825 Australians diagnosed every year.
In Tamworth, more than 60 children aged under the age of 18 are living with it.
Among those walking were 12-year-old Cameron Blundell, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes aged three, and eight-year-old Sterling Rodda, who was diagnosed when he was four.
JDRF walks around the world raise more than $85 million for life-changing type 1 diabetes research every year.
