Tickets were on sale from 9am this morning, October 20, for the Valentines Day show on the Surf & Soul tour, rolling into TRECC on February 14.
But the band that created the beach-rock sound won't be arriving in Tamworth on their own. The Temptations will be taking the stage as well in the Australian tour taking in only six cities.
“With only six Australian cities on tour we are thrilled that the Tamworth Region is one of those and we anticipate that the major event will attract visitors to the region from the North East Coast and Inland areas," Entertainment venues manager Peter Ross said.
“It’s a bonus to have these two massive music icons in Tamworth on Valentines Day. We hope to see many couples who courted each other with this music in the audience to relive the magic."
The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, who along with Jeff Foskett, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, Brian Eichenberger and Scott Totten continue the legacy of the iconic American band. This tour will not feature Brian Wilson, Al Jardine or David Marks.
The Beach Boys began as a casual singing group in 1961 but went on to release some of the most memorable tunes in rock history.
“The Tamworth Regional Entertainment Conference Centre, compared to other arenas around the country, is an intimate venue that can present international artists of this calibre. It’s a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity for the people of our region, and it’s not to be missed," Ross said.
