Rain put a dampener on the second day of the NSW Veterans Cricket Championships in Tamworth.

All of the games were declared draws after rain washed out the afternoon’s play.

Most of the games, it came with the chasing sides about to commence their innings’.

There were some good first innings scores compiled. Tamworth Blue posted 4-204 from their 40 overs in their Division 1 clash with Hastings Sharks, with Barry Everingham hitting 42 (ret) and Tom Kellett 40 (ret).

Lismore meanwhile notched 6-209 against Coffs Harbour on the back of 43 (ret) from Peter Gow and 40 (ret) from Glenn Roff.

Tuesday is a rest day in Division 1 and 3.

Games continue in Division 2 with Port Jackson Blue facing Central Coast Cyclones at Riverisde 1 and Tamworth Gold matching up against the Western Wildfires next door.

Kellet, who is also the Tamworth vets coordinator, said the outlook is good for the rest of the carnival, which wraps up on Thursday.
