More than 100 people were lined up outside the sale’s Taminda site on Saturday morning before it had even opened.
Lions Club book fair chair Greg Clark said this year’s sale, which runs until next Sunday, was the club’s major fundraiser. It allows the volunteer-run group to continue injecting funds back into the community.
Every cent we raise goes directly back into the community.

“It went incredibly well,” he said.
“It’s the second-biggest sale we’ve ever had. Every cent we raise goes directly back into the community.”
There are still about 400,000 donated books left to purchase.
“Sometimes we sell some at four for $1,” Mr Clark said.
“Other times, really good books might be $10.
“We’re still getting donated books.
“Even people from Newcastle, Barraba, Gunnedah are dropping them in.”
Among the most in-demand books are novels, as well as non-fiction reads on everything from war to cooking and gardening, Mr Clark noted.
