Michelle Johnstone has a one-shot lead halfway through the Tamworth Golf Club Ladies Championships.

Starting on Tuesday with the second round on Thursday, Johnstone shot 158 across the two rounds with club captain Jenny Taylor claiming that the course in top shape with a scratch rating of just 70.

The club house leader is one shot clear of Natalie Studte, with Peta Johnson shooting 134 to lead the nett by three shots to Ros Sadler.

Magda Wordsworth is leading B Grade by two shots to Elaine Lye, Wendy Crowley and Mary Gurt, who are all tied.

Dot Studte leads C Grade after shooting 206, one shot clear of Barb Truman.

The ladies will return next Tuesday before the final round on Thursday.
