COUNCILLORS from around the north converged on Tamworth this week to attend the “Hit the Ground Running” workshop for new and returning councillors.
The workshop, held at the Tamworth Community Centre, was designed to strengthen the network between councillors and ensure they know what their responsibilities are.
Topics discussed included: the Model Code of Conduct and understanding how to manage resources to achieve for the community.
The workshop also provided an opportunity for councillors to meet with senior staff from the Division of Local Government and the Local Government Shires Association.
The workshop was one of more than 30 being held to orientate councillors in various regions across the state during October and November following their election, or re-election to local government last month.
