Wests pulls Group 4 rugby league sponsorship
I feel I must comment on Tamworth Wests Entertainment Group decision to cancel their sponsorship to West Lions, Oxley Diggers Group 4 and the referees.

No one can excuse the conduct and disgraceful scenes on Grand Final Day.
But Rugby League in NSW country is on the decline despite officials denial. So Rugby League needs all the support they can get, not sponsorship cancellation.
Why is free rental for Scully Park be such a big deal for home games?
Give Group 4 the chance to do their job. This debacle to my knowledge has never happened before or anything like it.
What has Oxley Diggers done wrong? Group 4 committee and referees management can not do much once the game starts.
Tamworth Wests Entertainment Group must think back as without West Tamworth Rugby League Club their President Ken Chillingworth, his players and supporters, and West Tamworth Entertainment Group would not be where they are today.
As a former Gunnedah Rugby League player I did not think I would be strongly supporting Tamworth rugby league teams, but league in country NSW need all the support they can get not sponsorship cancellation.

Don’t remove the diving boards
I just hear on the grapevine that Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) are planning on removing the diving boards at Barraba Pool.
Not a big deal I hear you say most of them have been taken out years ago, but there are always two sides to every story.
Here’s a really good example of how TRC fails to do the little things well in the smaller towns in their region.
In a small town like Barraba the pool is still a big deal as we don’t have lots of things too entertain our kids throughout the year, Tamworth on the other hand has many, many things to entertain the kiddies like the Sports Dome, Adventure Playground and the list goes on.
Must we say it again TRC has done the big things well for towns like Barraba, for example, who can forget our pipeline from Split Rock Dam but they fail to do the little things properly.
Another example I saw last week was at our main viewing point for town Adams Lookout. Why is the grass two feet high when I could almost be certain that the council would not allow this to happen at Tamworth Lookout, no matter how much rain or bad weather has been encountered.
I believe that the newly elected councillors have an understanding that the smaller regional centres in the shire need a different management style but they need to instill this ethos in the administration staff from the general manager down.
And you wouldn’t get a better time to start than with a newly-elected council.
A concerned group of Barraba business people and residents are about to put a proposal to TRC councillors on how we can improve administration of the smaller regional areas, lets hope they listen otherwise we will be back here in 18 months having this discussion again.
I think I speak for all the small towns in the region when I say we don’t want “hand outs” we just a fair go and that may mean at times we are managed a bit differently.
So come out TRC lets try a bit harder.

Red tape review concerns
I am no eco-warrior but I think that landholders have to understand that there is an environmental cost to owning and using land, it is not theirs but ours collectively.
I don't want to dictate what is done or how but land has to be used wisely with a broader view of what it offers Australia into the future.
