The competition will see 29 combinations compete in the showpiece event in the hunt for some $20,000 in prizemoney, which also enables riders to gain international ranking points with the Pacific League winner eligible to compete in the final, hosted in Warsaw Poland early February.
Complementing the main attraction on Saturday, the North and Northwest Showjumping Club will also operate a three ring program over four days with heights varying for beginners to professionals with 174 riders entered.
A host of top name competitors are expected for the weekend including the current leader of the World Cup series Billy Raymont from Cooroy in Queensland riding ‘Anton’.
Raymont comes in hot off the back of a second in the Gatton World Cup as well as a win last week at the Melbourne Royal Show World Cup.
The ultimate competitor, Raymont will also ride the evergreen thoroughbred ‘Stardom’, further pressing his claim as favourite.
Local rider Michael Lees from Quirindi is hoping that he can improve on his 8th placing last year after a successful Australian Championships in Werribee, where he made the top 20 final and was awarded the leading thoroughbred award for the Senior title.
The main attraction, the World Cup Qualifier will kick off at 7pm Saturday night. Entry for the entire 4 day competition is free and is a spectacle not to be missed.
