This will be a wonderful Sunday afternoon of laughter and memories and, for those who may not know of Groucho, an opportunity to learn about one of the great comedic performers of all time.
The two-act, 90-minute comedy, consists of the best Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs including Hooray for Captain Spalding, and Lydia, the Tattooed Lady. The audience literally becomes part of the show as Ferrante adlibs his way throughout the performance in grand Groucho style.
Accompanied by his onstage pianist, Ferrante portrays the young Groucho of stage and film and reacquaints us with the likes of brothers Harpo, Chico, Zeppo and Gummo, Charlie Chaplin, W.C. Fields, Greta Garbo, Marx foil, Margaret Dumont and MGM’s Louis B. Mayer.
Coming up in October is a sure night of rousing music at Capitol Theatre. The Brilliance of Brass appearing on October 15 at 8pm offers a brilliant night where two bands come together, the Gunnedah Shire Band and the Tamworth RSL Brass Band.
The Gunnedah Shire Band has previously won the Australian Open, State and National Open A Grade titles and, on numerous occasions, has won the Ern Keller International Band of the Year. The band includes players of outstanding ability who hold both national and international solo titles as well as outstanding young players.
And have you ever wondered what happened in Oz before Dorothy dropped in? Wicked, the Broadway blockbuster is coming to Capitol Theatre from October 28 to November 12.
A vivid re-imagining of the classic The Wizard of Oz, Wicked spotlights the untold stories of Oz’s most famous (or infamous) characters, namely the Wicked Witch of the West and her unlikely friend, Glinda the Good.
