Two new baby emus were welcomed to the Tamworth Marsupial Park earlier this month and need names.
On Friday the council launched a competition for locals to submit a name for one of the chicks, with the two winning names selected on their creativity.
A hot tip from park rangers, council said, is for locals to do their research into the animal for a little inspiration.
Local rangers said it was the first time the park had had an emu chick since 2010.
To submit an entry to the competition visit www.destinationtamworth.com.au, the Tamworth Marsupial Park Facebook page or collect an entry form at the Tamworth Marsupial Park. The winner is expected to be announced at the end of October.
