The public holiday might feel much quicker than a standard black-letter day because this long weekend will one hour shorter after we wind the clocks forward on Sunday morning for daylight saving.
But if you’re in Manilla this weekend, you are in for a timepiece-treat where the main street clock will wind itself forward for the first time.
Horologist Tim Tracey carried works on manilla’s standard bearer and said he’s keeping his “fingers crossed” the time warp goes off without a hitch. The clock is now linked to a satellite which makes sure the timepiece doesn’t miss a beat.
Once the clock strikes 2am, Mr Tracey says it will scoot through to 3am.
