Proving en plein air painting is anything but plain, Collins was named a finalist in the 2016 NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize.
The 20,000 prize is awarded to the best painting of a NSW subject.
Collins has been shortlisted for her work Morning Light – Sirius Cove, which will be on display alongside the 41 other finalists in this year’s Prize.
The free public exhibition at Sydney’s Parliament House runs from Wednesday October 4 through to Friday, October 28.
“This is one of the most anticipated events on the Parliament’s calendar,” Hon Don Harwin MLC said.
The winner will be announced at the Parliament on Wednesday 12 October, and chosen by this year’s judge David Hulme.
With a mixture of established artists competing against up and coming talent, it is anyone’s guess as to who will walk away with the $20,000 Prize, organisers said.
