NSW Paramedics and their death/disability legacy
I am very concerned by the recent actions of the Health Minister Ms Skinner to reduce the compensation available to our paramedics if they are severely injured or die whilst serving our community.

My family and I are opposed to this ridiculous ruling based on parity.
The simple fact is that a paramedic life should equal a police officers life should equal a fire fighters life. And following on from this: compensation for death and serious disability should be the exact same amongst the emergency services.
Amongst the Australian military, and with respect to disability and death compensation, is the life of a Navy officer not considered the same as an Army officer and an Airforce officer?
If members of our community put their hand up to serve the public in emergency settings, then their employers should NOT be valuing their lives with differing scales. This does not reflect the wishes of our society, and should not be allowed to become law.
I am also concerned about the effect that this would have on our local community. At present, the three emergency services in Tamworth have a good working relationship with one another. This is vital to offering the best outcome to the public, after a 000 call is made.
Currently the three services work closely together in confronting and tense situations- where effective team work and communication is essential to a good end result for all persons involved. The new ruling will place this teamwork under threat, as it will introduce other factors into the paramedics life, who will now consider themselves second class to the other emergency services.
This should not be allowed to happen as our paramedics are highly trained and considered amongst the best in the world. For the good of all in our community we should not fracture the relationship between police-ambulance-fire. It is time we all stood up for our paramedics.

Islamaphobia
Unfortunately there is a gradual increase in Islamophobia which could be modified.
Islamic religion is without a doubt the most powerful religion in the world today, not only because of it numerical situation. It is the second most numerous of all religions but its many followers are mostly devout followers.
Therefore if all the Muslim religion leaders worldwide would jointly condemn the satanic slaughter that is being carried out in the name of Islam there could be not only a halt to Islamophobia but hopefully a reduction of such terrible slaughter.
Also if the Islamic nations such as Iran and Saudi Arabia took in their share of the thousands of Muslim refugees once again such actions would stem Islamic hostility.
After all the Koran insists on Muslims caring and loving each other (Yes, I have read the Koran).
Hopefully such measures if implemented could make the world much more peaceful and humane.

Same sex marriage plebiscite
I would like to congratulate the “editorial 19th Sept. 2016, NDL”
Gratifying to note a leading newspaper & it’s leading editor, both actually leading. The ‘editorial saw it all in the expensive and needless quafoffle of the plebiscite on the issue of same - sex marriage. Everyone interested may read it.
To me it clearly demonstrates the mess politicians and their leaders allow themselves to be sucked into. A mess which due to lack of courage, which due to ego and lack of political will, prevents them from doing what we, the people chose them to do, namely lead. I miss a Nelson Mandela here, and his living equal, our own Tony Windsor.
