Trevor Paeche broke his pelvis in four places and fractured his vertebra and leg in the accident, before being flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
Leanne Paeche said Trevor was in the hands of top surgeon Zsolt Balogh, who will rebuild his pelvis during the six-hour surgery.
“Trevor was quite unwell yesterday when I arrived here, due to the internal bleeding and pain,” Mrs Paeche said.
“They have both under control at the moment.
“Trev will be bed-ridden for six weeks then have rehab.
“Hard for him (as) he is very active and hates sitting around. He's also a truck driver so he won't be able to work for months.”
