Cessnock trainer Jeremy Sylvester is also hoping his runner in tomorrow’s $50,000 2100m feature, Uno Five, is also set and ready to go.
The 2014 Lismore Cup winner is coming off a string of ordinary efforts, the eight-year-old gelding son of Perfectly Ready finishing last in three of his last four starts!
“It’s his moment of truth,” Jeremy Sylvester aid earlier this week of a gelding who has won eight of his 69 starts for $336,434 but struggled in recent efforts on soft and heavy going.
He has been a wonderful horse for Sylvester, who also has a share in the gelding who won the 2014 Cup with Tegan Harrison aboard.
She will again ride the gelding tomorrow and they will jump from barrier one.
Harrison also rode Plutorius for Sylvester to win last year’s Lismore Cup and she will also be on Sylvester’s other two runners on Cup day, Collar and Me Mongo.
Dreams can come true on Cup days and a third successive Lismore Cup for Sylvester and Harrison could be aided by winning two other races on Cup day.
Lismore Turf Club chief executive officer, Scott Jones, is delighted his club will run after so many other meetings in country NSW have been abandoned or postponed in recent weeks.
“We’re set and ready to go,” Jones said today.
“We’ve had 8.1mm or rain and we have a Heavy 8 but the rain is clearing.”

While it is a Heavy 8 the club ha finished with eight good races and a Cup where Hunter and North West Racing Association Valley raider Sylvester races for a third successive Cup and Ballina trainer, Stephen Lee, chases his first ever Lismore Cup with Anton En Avant and Scotti Be Gotti, although the former might not start given the Heavy 8.
Tamworth Jockey Club was one of those clubs to have a meeting abandoned this week but Racing NSW has created an extra meeting for them next Tuesday.
Today the TJC received 114 nominations for the seven-race TAB meeting for which stand-in CEO Helen Sinclair said were evenly spread.
The TJC received 4mm of rain this morning and Sinclair said some rain was predicted in the afternoon and that could determine the fate of next Tuesday’s meeting given the heavy and waterlogged state of the Tamworth track.
Meanwhile one of Australia’s greatest ever mares, Black Caviar, is a proud mum again after giving birth to a Snitzel filly in the Hunter Valley on Saturday.
On the day when Winx, who has taken over the crown of Queen of Australian racing, won her seventh Group 1 in the George Main Stakes, Black Caviar foaled another filly and has taken to life as a mum very well.
The unbeaten mare's former trainer Peter Moody announced the new arrival on twitter on Sunday morning. There has been no decision which stallion Black Caviar will visit this season but Exceed And Excel, Sebring and Snitzel are all options again.
