TWO Tamworth sisters and their alleged accomplice remain behind bars after their first court appearances on drug charges this week.
Sisters Kaya Richmond, 24, and Meg Richmond, 22 appeared at Tamworth Local Court on Monday following their arrests last week.
Nicholas Dobson, 26, had also been arrested as part of the Oxley Local Area Command detectives’ investigation into an alleged drug syndicate operating in Tamworth.
The investigation had been launched to look into the supply of illegal drugs, including cannabis and cocaine.
Police allege the syndicate was involved in the supply of more than 14.5kg of cannabis – worth about $250,000.
Last Thursday, the Richmond sisters and Dobson were charged with drug related crimes and refused bail pending their court appearances this week.
Kaya Richmond faced six charges, including three counts of supply/knowingly take part in the supply of a prohibited drug, participate in a criminal group and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.
Meg Richmond faced three charges, including supply/knowingly take part in the supply of a prohibited drug.
Dobson faced five charges.
All three accused did not apply for bail on Monday, which was formally refused, and did not enter pleas.
They are listed to reappear on November 28.
