A MAN is in hospital in a critical condition after he was found with a serious head injury in a unit complex car park at Armidale last night.
The 34-year-old man was reportedly found lying in a car park on Niagara St when police arrived at 10pm.
The officers found the man with an "obvious head injury" and he showed no signs of life.
They immediately rendered first aid to the man until paramedics arrived.
The man was taken to Armidale Hospital and placed on life support.
He was reported to still be in a critical condition this morning.
Inquiries by police at the scene revealed the injured man was drinking with others at a nearby unit.
Police established a crime scene at the area and spoke to residents of nearby homes.
A guard has been left at the location overnight and further forensic testing will be conducted this morning.
Investigations into the incident continue and police have appealed for anyone with information about unusual or suspicious activity in the area to come forward and contact Armidale Police or Crime Stoppers.
