A 22-year-old man who hit a parked police car while drunk in an attempt to go back to prison received his wish at Tamworth Local Court yesterday.
Michael Roy Foster was sentenced to nine months after he was found guilty of maliciously damaging property and driving with a high range prescribed concentration of alcohol.
Foster had crashed into a police paddy wagon out the front of the Tamworth police station on Monday, September 3.
He was apprehended at the scene.
Foster recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.273 after the incident – more than five times the legal limit.
Onlookers had said it looked as though he aimed for the car as he made his way down Fitzroy St.
Police later confirmed Foster had told them he “wanted to be locked up again.”
He had been refused bail at his last court appearance, where he pleaded guilty to the charges.
