Police are investigating after a man in his 20s was found dead on the state's mid north coast.

Officers found the man at a home in Ridge St, Nambucca Heads, where they were called shortly before 3pm on Friday afternoon.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the man's death have yet to be established, but it is understood the man had his throat slashed.
Several police cars and detectives arrived at the scene, before police tape was used to block off the area.
A crime scene was established and investigations into the events surrounding the incident continue.
