Hillvue Public School will host the market on their school oval on Sunday and it promises to be a cracker event with everyone bound to go home with something in their hands.
More than 55 market stalls are booked for the big event which ranges from jewellery, tea cup candles, second hand goods, toys, cakes, plants, craft and more.
There’ll also be a jumping castle and sausage sizzle on the day and plenty of coffee to go around for those early morning bargain hunters but what’s more is the event was the brainchild of the students themselves with a special fundraiser in mind to help others who are finding it tough.
“This is going to be a wonderful day,” said Hillvue school relieving assistant principal Charles Jones.
"The weather will be damp in the lead up to market day, but on Sunday the sun will shine and a thousand feet will walk the oval in search of treasures to take home.
“A novel to read, scrumptious food to enjoy and tantalising coffee to sip or sit and chat for awhile.”
Mr Jones said it was the school’s student representative council who came up with the idea and wanted to host an event which the whole community could enjoy but they also wanted to give something back to to others.
“The SRC wanted to provide an opportunity for people to buy and sell their goods, and at the same time, by charging a realistic site feed of $15 the proceeds would be donated to worth while causes such as the Cancer Council,” Mr Jones said.

“The markets is about getting people together, sharing their projects and enjoying the company of others and the money not being held within the school but going to organisations that assist with supporting young and old with cancer treatment.”
