The five-year-old Scone mare, who stands about 17.1 hands, beat Tamworth trained Collins Street by a short head in Tuesday’s $20,000 Bath Stewart and Associates Class 3 Handicap (1600m).
It was the daughter of Street Sense’s third victory in seven starts.
“She’s going all right,” Scone trainer Rod Northam said after her latest win.
“Three from seven isn’t bad. “
She is a big girl but surprisingly doesn’t need that much work, Rod said.
“She’s pretty fit, we just keep her ticking over,” he said.
“She’s had a fair break between runs too.”
Her previous start had been a win at Moree on July 21.
And how much does she weigh?
“Wouldn’t have a clue,” Rod said.
“Probably have to take her to truck scales to get her weighed though,” he joked.
Mark Hatch trained the runner-up Collins Street and his son, Zach Hatch, had won the previous race with Kenny Succeed.
Earlier in the day Newcastle trained Arden Street had won the first race for trainer Barry Lawrence. It was Arden Street’s first race win at start number 11 while Little Miss Tee won the second race for Tamworth trainer Therese Stair. It was the mare’s seventh start.
Catnap might have been first emergency in the Allsopp Signs Maiden Handicap but that didn’t stop the Bob Milligan-trained gelding from breaking through at his 12th race start.
