Bailey Reid's strike all that split the two sides as Tamworth Public booked a match-up with Bolwarra and ended Ben Venue's two year reign 1-nil.
“It was very close,” Tamworth Pubic coach Peter Brown said.
It wasn't until towards the end of the second half that the 0-all deadlock was broken. Brown said there was about 10 minutes to go when striker Max Walters made a break, and was tripped in the box as he closed in on the goalkeeper. The fall saw the ball come loose and Reid scooped it up and banged it into the back of the net.
“We had a lot of the possession and spent a lot of time in their half,” Brown said.
“The boys worked hard making sure they had space and quite a few times we broke through.”
Brown was particularly impressed with their team-work and felt that's what got them through.
