Police allege a 25-year-old Gunnedah man removed his shirt to smash the front window of a Hopedale Ave house about 12.50am on Thursday.
Police have been told a neighbour heard the sound of smashing glass and went to investigate.
Officers were alerted and the neighbour told police she spoke with the man.
Police arrived a short time later and saw a man crawling under a tree in the yard of the house.
A man was arrested and taken to Gunnedah Police Station where he was questioned.
He was charged with one count of enter a building with intent to commit and indictable offence and entering inclosed lands without permission. He was granted bail to appear at Gunnedah court in September.
