The Pirates presented a lymphedema pump to the North West Cancer Centre on Friday afternoon, following a fantastic fundraising effort from the ladies of the club.
“The Pirates ladies’ day had lots of donations from local businesses and we had a raffle on the day,” social club coordinator Kate Wynne said.

“We raised $2100 which bought the pump and we donated the remainder to the cancer centre, which they can put toward the purchase of other equipment.”
Mrs Wynne said the donation was not about publicity for the club and was about contributing to the community.
“We like to support something which has helped the people who have input to the club,” she said.
“We’ve had a number of women at the club who have been affected by breast cancer. This is doing our bit to help.”
Lymphedema can be a side effect from breast cancer, which cause swelling in the limbs.
