In what was a brutal and protracted week in state politics, Deputy Premier and NSW Nationals Leader Troy Grant dumped two junior ministers after they crossed the floor.
Parliamentary secretaries for Northern and Southern NSW Chris Gulaptis and Katrina Hodgkinson were removed from their roles on Friday.
The pair had crossed the floor in opposition to the Coalition’s vote to outlaw greyhound racing in NSW from July, next year.
Mr Marshall was announced as Mr Gulaptis’ replacement, who had also offered his resignation prior to voting against the ban.
The Northern Tablelands MP will also serve as the Parliamentary Secretary for Renewable Energy.
”I’m very honoured and very humbled,” he told The Leader after the news broke on Friday.
“I’m pleased to be given some responsibility in relation to renewable energy, it’s something I’m very passionate about and have been working on these issues in my electorate for the last few years. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to get more involved in policy at that level across the state.”
Mr Marshall would not be drawn on the dumping of his two colleagues from their roles, but said he would dedicate himself to the roles he was given.
Joning Mr Marshall is MLC Bronnie Taylor who will take on the duties for Southern NSW and Regional Communications.
In announcing the appointment, Deputy Premier Grant said he believed Mr Marshall would do a “terrific job” in his new role, and would hit the ground running. “Both Adam and Bronnie will bring a renewed focus on regional NSW, ensuring the communities of Northern and Southern NSW have a strong voice in government,” he said.
