Not only will the Magpies be playing for a home grand final in front of a big home crowd, but for the first time this season the coaches and skipper have every player available for the first time this season.
“I am normally scratching my head watching them play but this week I am scratching it trying to put a side together,” Bowne said.
“It will be the first time we have had a full side all season and there will be three or four on the bench that should be starters.”
“We are excited and ready to go.”
Bowne will sit down with co-coach Ron Dellar and skipper Brandon Hunt to finalise the list before the Sunday kick-off, although with a full team the Magpies will be hard to beat at home.
After going down at home in golden point of last years grand final against Kootingal the Magpies have had a point to prove, and are coming into the finals on the back of ten straight wins after only dropping the opening two games.
The second loss was against Uralla, after Dungowan got them in the opener.
“We can’t take Uralla lightly they lead the comp for most of the season,” Bowne said.
“We have a big advantage with the home ground but that won’t get us there.”
“We need to be patient and execute well.”
With a full side all the usual Creek suspects will be there to lead the way for the side that finished in the grand final of the pre-season Wests Knockout against first division sides.
Thomas Browne is having a huge season up front, while fellow prop Bryce Parsons is also running into some good form over the last month.
They will be joined in an impressive second division pack by the likes of Beau Parry, Jack Prior and Zac Leonard, while Cody Tickle will likely start at hooker to feed ball players like Hunt, Zac Darcy and Stuie Porter.
Out wide the Magpies have more strength and depth, with Nathaniel Slater, Marty Shaw, and Brett Thomas always keen to find the line.
“We have enough handy footballers in the side that are good enough to play what is in front of them,” Bowne said.
“We have to do the hard work first and then play that Werris Creek football.”
“Hit the ground running and control the ball.”
Uralla will be bringing both sides to David Taylor Park with the league tag side meeting the unbeaten Kootingal Roosters in a replay of last years grand final at the same ground.
The last time the two sides met was a draw that not even golden point could break, and this major final promises to be no different with the two sides the clear stand-outs this season.
