I Will is the latest release from Kirsty Lee Akers and the third single off her new album.
It was written about her relationship with husband Jesse, who believe it or not, she first met in kindergarten.
In a whirlwind trip to Tamworth this month to promote the new single, Akers said that basing herself between her homes in the Hunter Valley and Nashville was making her dreams come true one step at a time.
The new single has just been released but the music video has already garnered almost 100,000 hits and the support she has received had been phenomenal, she said.
“This is a song I wrote over in Nashville with my good friend Jerry Salley, he’s written a bunch of other Australian hits in the past and is an amazing songwriter.
“We wrote this about my husband Jesse, and there’s been lots of times where I’ve been away on special occasions because I’ve been off doing shows or been over to the other side of the world.
“There was a three-year period where I was travelling over to Nashville by myself and Jesse was staying over here (In Australia) working, to help pay for me to be over there.
“It was our tenth anniversary at the time and I was a little down and was talking to Jerry about it and I really wanted to write a song about Jess, so Jerry helped to bring out that side in me and we wrote this song.”

As for what’s next for the singing sensation, Akers is heading back to Nashville where she will feature in the AmericanaFest 2016 in September.
“To me Nashville is country music heaven, I grew up listening to country music my whole life and am obsessed with everything country music so when I go there, it’s like Tamworth but 24/7 – it’s like a bit of hillbilly heaven,” she said.
She’s also gearing up for the Tamworth Country Music Festival, which will be her 25th year heading to the city.
She’s locked in a show on the last Saturday of the festival at The Family Hotel and says she’s looking forward to sharing the songs from the new album with her fans.
Having won her first Golden Guitar award at age 19, Akers is also keeping her fingers crossed for nominations in the near future.
“Anything would be amazing, we’ve put a lot of hard work into this album,” she said.
“The two very first singles went to number one on the Country Music Channel so I hope we might have a little bit of a chance in there,
“But there’s been a lot of great albums released this year, so you just never know.”
