Stephen Gleeson, who prepares the five-year-old gelding son of Beautiful Crown for his father Jim Gleeson, long time family friends and supporters Elaine and Danny Wells as well as his brother Jason and sister-in-law Mel Cranfield.
Jason bred the “little”sprinter, Stephen Gleeson said.
“He bred him and put him through the Scone Yearling Sales but he only went for $7000 or $8000. So Jason kept him.”
“It was a good decision, he’s been a great little money spinner.”
Don’t Tease Me has won six of his 23 starts for $124,420 in prizemoney plus another $20,000 or so in bonuses.
He’s also had three starts at Tamworth for two seconds and a win.
His first start was at Tamworth in the October 1, 2013 Romantic Dream 2YO Plate where he was runner-up to Goodbye Kevin.
This year’s Tamworth Cup winner, Chrysolaus, was third.
“We’ve always tried to dodge the real wet stuff because he is a little horse but he’s done well enough and that Randwick race when he ran second was on a Heavy 10.”
- Steven Gleeson
Two starts back he ran second to Invitations at Randwick.
“That was a real good run,” Stephen Gleeson said.
“But his last start (8th to Southern legend at Randwick) was the best of his life. He was in a real strong race, Les Bridge reckons the winner is a group horse.”
“We only got beat 4.4 lengths. He’s come through that well too and is rock hard fit.”
“So we decided to put a late nom in for him at Tamworth. It wasn’t the original plan but when we saw the field looked a little light-on we thought we’d run there.”
Don’t Tease Me is far from being a mudlark too.
“We’ve always tried to dodge the real wet stuff because he is a little horse but he’s done well enough and that Randwick race when he ran second was on a Heavy 10.”

Tamworth was rated a Heavy 10 yesterday after the track received 47mm in the past week and 17mm in the last 24 hours.
The TJC received an extra nine nominations for the meeting after extending noms for five of next Tuesday’s TAB meeting.
