One of Tamworth’s most sought after live acts, he’ll be back in the city this weekend to offer up two nights of country entertainment at Wests’ Leagues Club.
He's no stranger to the Country Music Capital either, Murphy says he tries to get back to local venues as often as he can and he enjoys the crowds and the atmosphere at his favourite pubs and clubs
For his gigs this weekend he has one request – bring your dancing shoes and your good time vibes and he’ll deliver one helluva show.
He’ll perform with his band Murphy’s Law on Friday night from 8.30pm and will be back for more with an acoustic set with Steve McCauley on Saturday night at the same time with a mix of original songs and old favourites on the list.
“You have to put on a show, it has to be a bit of everything – you can be the best singer in the world, but you have to talk to them and make them feel special,” Murphy told The Leader
Leisure time is precious, they spend two or three hours of their time with us so it’s my responsibility to make sure they enjoy themselves.

“Leisure time is precious, they spend two or three hours of their time with us so it’s my responsibility to make sure they enjoy themselves.”
The NSW Firefighter, who is stationed in Sydney, says his Murphy’s Law gig is perfect for those looking for an uptempo outing where the harmonies, base and drums are the recipe for a night on the dance floor.
His acoustic set with McCauley, however, will be more of an intimate affair.
“I love doing them, it’s a lot more personal and I talk to the crowd, get a lot of feedback and take requests,” he said.
“Tamworth has been so good to me over all the years, people keep turning up to the gigs.”
As for what’s next for the dynamic singer songwriter he’s currently locking in dates for his concerts at the 2017 Tamworth Country Music Festival with a few solo and collaboration gigs thrown into the mix.
He hinted that while he’s not actively working on writing new material for himself, it’s always in the back of his mind.
”I’m always jotting words down, I’m currently working on a song with another guy at the moment,” Murphy said.
“There’s always something kicking along in the background, I’ve always got a notebook with me so when I think of a line I jot it down.
“So the next time I’m thinking of a good line i’ve got it there.”
