Chloe Brown, 5, contracted the infection earlier this month and was flown to Sydney Children’s Hospital to undergo surgery, which she was given only a slim chance of surviving. She beat those odds, but is now facing a long road to recovery.
Family friend Sarah Tulloch set up a gofundme page, with a goal of $20,000, to support the Brown family, and has been blown away by the response. “In about 20 hours we hit the goal. It’s mind blowing. I can’t believe it,” Ms Tulloch said.
“I thought maybe in a few days we could hit it, but to hit the goal in less than a day is unbelievable.
“I knew we would get a lot of support, but not nearly this much.” By Wednesday night, the page had raised more than $22,000. “I have so much respect for the people who donated and I know it will mean a lot to the family.”
