Debate has raged on about fencing off the playground, after council voted to spend $65,000 on additional security measures for the playground following a spate of “anti-social behavior”.
The decision divided the public, with some calling for a fence to increase security and safety along the busy Kable Ave side.
But councillors said they hadn't heard much appetite for a fenced playground and preferred to maintain the park’s “amenity”.
The Leader published a poll to help settle the debate, but the only thing that’s clear is uncertainty.
We had 215 respondents to the survey and 42.33 per cent voted to fence, while 45.12 per cent opposed the idea.
A further 8.37 per cent wanted to fence the roadside of the ground and the remaining 4.18 wanted a fence on the riverside.
Combining the figures, the way forward becomes more unclear with 50.7 per cent voting a fenced facility or a roadside fence and 49.3 opting for no fencing or a riverside barrier.
