Warriors accounted for Cougars 14-7 while the Outlaws defeated Gunnedah 16-2.
The Outlaws’ batting power was on show, with the Armidale side hitting six triples (three base hits).
Ben Greatrex, Josh Shaw and Aiden Lee all had some quality hits at bat, Outlaws coach Mick Aldis said.
Jason Godwin and Keegan Bird were also solid in defence all day, he said, while Josh Shaw made a rare appearance as our catcher for the day.
Warriors’ Mitch Holt said their game against Cougars was tighter than the scoreline indicates.
“It was 6-all for a fair part of the game,” Holt reported.
“Ryan Handsaker started for us again and pitched five innings, getting better as he went along.”
Chris Dyson and Mick Martin topped the hits for them with three while Nathan Handsaker and Dave Ardill made two, Handsaker also hitting a triple.
Robert Chandler meanwhile had a double and one hit, with Mark Gallaher and Ryan Handsaker all registering a hit.
For Cougars Kris Bird had two hits, and Scott Hurn (with a double), Aaron Carter, Brock Ridgewell, Josh Daley, Richard Bullock, Greg Martin and Brian Hopton one.
Ridgewell started off on the mound for them, Bird and Daley relieving.
