Namoi Water executive Jon-Maree Baker says the community is facing a 30 per cent drop in employment if the Murray Darling Basin Authority's goes ahead – or 70 full time jobs and $38 million annually out of the economy.
The Basin Plan will remove an additional 23,000ML from the Lower Namoi for downstream environmental water requirements.
Namoi Water released a video on Facebook last week, titled "Saving Wee Waa".
It has already been shared over 5000 times, with hundreds of thousands of views.
“This is a fight the whole town is prepared to have, and water leaving for political reasons for no environmental outcome hurts a town like Wee Waa,” Ms Baker said.
“We just need governments to prioritise achieving outcomes rather than focusing on numbers.”
