Peel Valley Machinery market manager, Steve Johns, said along with the rain, there was a substantial amount of soil moist and some limited water allocated from Lake Keepit – which was all adding up to a “promising season”.
"We'll see a bigger crowd than we've had for some time – or at the least a bigger crowd of agricultural farmers," Mr Johns said.
"There are people who have been hammered by drought for the last five years, and they are finally seeing something in the paddock to make money from for the rest of the growing season.”
While there might not be a huge amount of buying because a lot of machinery has been "sitting around unused over the dry period", farmers will want to do their research and look at what's available on the market.
"If we don't see immediate sales, I think we will probably have a good sales boost for next year from this event.
“We’re expecting to see more interest in the broad acre equipment.”
Case IH Australia and New Zealand marking manager, Pete McCann, has been going to AgQuip for the last 17 years.
He expects a bigger crowd than the event has seen in last two years.
"It's so wet, there's not a lot they can do, so why not come to AgQuip and look at everything that is new and preferable red," Mr McCann said, laughing.
"We try to bring one of everything, so there is good opportunity for customers to ask questions about different models and their features."
While has been a good year for business and farmers, Mr MCann said they "weren't home yet".
"It's been a good start to the year, but at the end of the day, it's not in the silos yet, so we won't get too excited," he said.
New Holland northern NSW sales manager Ben Mitchell said he was hoping for record sales this year.
"The farmers have high confidence because of the great season we're having and the cheap financial rates we are offering," he said.
