A MAN has been killed in a multi-vehicle accident on the New England Highway at Camberwell yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident involving two trucks and two cars about 3.30pm yesterday near the intersection of Glennies Creek Rd.
A man in his 50s, who was trapped in a vehicle, died at the scene.
No other people involved in the crash suffered life-threatening injuries, and none were hospitalised.
One of the trucks was reportedly carrying underground mining equipment about four metres wide.
The New England Highway was closed in both directions until late last night as Hunter Valley detectives and officers from Newcastle Crash Investigation examined the scene.
Traffic was diverted onto the Golden Highway.
