The Jets were last here in 2013, although after having lunch at West Leagues on the way home from a pre-season trip to Armidale last year, coach Scott Miller heard all about the new complex that was being built and decided to return.
Miller is entering his second year as the Jets coach, after taking up training and assistant roles with the likes of Fulham and a fitness role with Ange Postocoglu and the Australians.
“It has been an interesting and very challenging twelve months,” Miller said.
“Australian football has come a long way and we have a really dynamic squad this season.”
The Jets came through Muswellbrook on their trip holding an open training session and a Jets Play Clinic with kids, before doing the same in Tamworth on Thursday at Scully Park and then Gipps street.
The squad will hold another open session at Scully Park on Friday, before the match kicks off at 4pm on Saturday.
Playing his cards close to his chest the coach didn’t want to give too much away about how his team will play on Saturday, although did admit to bringing a young, exciting and dynamic squad that he hopes can change the clubs fortune.
The Jets haven’t made an A-League finals series for six consecutive seasons.
“I have been allowed a very flexible recruitment process,” Miller said. “Hopefully we have changed the dynamic of the squad.”
