The Swans overcame a change in scenery when moved from No 1 Oval to Riverside to beat Narrabri Eagles 18.19 117-12.8 80, while the Roos fought back from a 10-point deficit at three-quarter time to beat the Inverell Saints, 11.6 72-10.10 70.
The New England Nomads had a huge win over Moree Suns in the other game, booting 39.24 258 to the Suns 1.4 10.
In Inverell, the Roos kicked 3.4 to the home side's 1.4 in the final term for a stirring victory. Matt Hughes kicked five for the Roos, and Daniel Johnson three.
At Riverside, the Tamworth Swans had a slow start and trailed the Eagles before finding their bearings and grabbing a 37-point win. Gavin Knee was outstanding for the Swans.
