Joan Douglas resigns from CMAA

THE Country Music Association of Australia’s chairwoman, Tamworth hotelier and businesswoman Joan Douglas, resigned from the organisation’s top job at a board meeting yesterday in Sydney.

Mrs Douglas took on the role in September 2011, having served in the position of secretary, succeeding long-serving chairman Rod Laing, the chief executive officer of Wests Entertainment Group.

It is understood the board elected artist manager and Gympie Muster music co-ordinator Jeff Chandler to fill the position of acting chairman until the annual general meeting on December 11.

In other business on the table, it was decided the Golden Guitar finalists would be announced at 10am on Monday, November 12, in the Parkes Room at the MLC Centre, Martin Place, Sydney.

For the first time, nominees, and not only finalists, would be invited, along with media and members of the judging panel, to attend the announcement.
