Competition leaders Scone Thoroughbreds beat Greta Branxton 74-0 at Greta Oval on Saturday evening to claim the minor premiership, club championship and vital home-ground advantage for the major semi against Muswellbrook at Scone Park, on Sunday, August 13.
Muswellbrook Rams, on the other hand, lost to Singleton, at Pirtek Park, Singleton, 36-14 on Sunday.
The Rams were disappointing against a fired up Greyhounds who were chasing a home semi and couldn't have been any more impressive in their 22-point victory.
They will play an Aberdeen Tigers who beat Denman Devils 74-16 on Sunday.
The Tigers beat Singleton last time they played, said Tigers president Les Horvath.
"But that was last week, this is a whole new game," Horvath said on Sunday.
"We have to play them down there, they're always hard to beat down there."
Tiger second rower Travis Bateman was one of the stars on Sunday for the Tigers crossing for five tries.
Singleton coach Josh Desmond said his props, Jacob Miller and Chris Martin set a platform in their upset win over second-placed Muswellbrook.
"They did the job up front," Josh Desmond told The Leader.
"Set the platform for us along with lock Joe Upward."
He is now preparing for this Sunday's knockout minor semi against Aberdeen.
He said the side came through injury free.
"A few bumps and bruises, nothing too serious," he said.
"Aberdeen will be tough, it's a semi final."
Muswellbrook co-coach Gary Jones was disappointed his side failed to handle the Singleton pack.
"They had everything to play for," he said.
"Playing for a home semi, Jacob Miller was just too strong for us and then Chad Solman's kicking game on the back of that, they dominated and led us 30-6 at one stage. We did get back to 30-14 but they had it all to play for."
The Rams have a nervous wait with injuries to Liam Dunn (groin) and Jacob Ellis (hamstring).
Scone came through its 74-nil win over Greta Branxton unscathed.
The return of Gary McKeon to the side over the last few games from a broken leg has been a major bonus and captain-coach Daniel Ritter is preparing for two good weeks of training in readiness for the August 13 major semi at Scone Park.
