The Thoroughbreds beat Greta Branxton 74-nil in a game shortened by a five or six minutes at Greta Oval on Saturday evening.
"We played pretty well," Scone captain-coach Daniel Ritter said.
"They were pretty physical, they tried hard and got in front of us but we also scored some good tries too and played reasonably well."
The Thoroughbreds are returning to near full strength too, with the likes of Gary McKeon playing the last few games after recovering from a broken leg. James Barker and Wes Suckley again shone for the Scone side who play Muswellbrook in the major semi after the Rams lost to Singleton 36-14 at Pirtek Park, Singleton on Sunday.
The Greyhounds win enabled the side to clinch third and a home semi final against Aberdeen Tigers this Sunday.
Jacob Miller and Chris Martin were best for the Greyhounds, while Jeff Saarikko and Ryan Holman were the Rams best.
"It's always hard going to Singleton," said Muswellbrook co-coach Gary Jones.
"Didn't expect anything less but they were just too good."
Singleton are back at home this Sunday when they play Aberdeen in the minor semi.
