TAMWORTH Kangaroos started too well for Tamworth Swans to win their local derby and the Billy Holder Cup at No 1 Oval on Saturday on a day where Gunnedah Bulldogs and Moree Suns also had big wins.

The Suns also started well and led 6.14 50 to 1.3 9 at half time before securing a 19.23 137-6.6 42 win over Narrabri Eagles at Leitch Oval, Narrabri.
Biggest shock of the weekend, though, was in Inverell where the Gunnedah Bulldogs beat the Inverell Saints by 15 points. The Bulldogs kicked 12.17 89 to 10.14 74 for their best win of the season.
In Tamworth, the Kangaroos continued their long dominance of the Swans with an emphatic 20.21 141 to 5.7 37 victory at No 1 Oval. They started extremely well, booting two six goals quarters to take a 76-point lead into the half time break. The Swans did fight back and made it a tougher second half but the Roos were too strong al over the park with Dean Hoy kicking six goals, Matt Hughes notching four and Daniel Leon, Alex Hudson and Ryan Searl all scoring two majors.
