The Men In Black hurdled Tamworth FC, which lost to competition leaders North Armidale 2-nil on Saturday.
The round 15 win jumped North Companions to 22 points just four points adrift of fourth spot.
"It was a good day for us," said Dave "Rocket" Palmer after the second grade had won 3-nil with Jordan Balcombe completing a brilliant hat trick.
"Getting the six points made it a great day. Although we did start off a little slow."
Norths led 3-nil at half time, one of which was a great strike by Isaac Wood.
Scot Flanagan, Jake Thompson, James Russ and Dylan Langenbaker also joined Wood on the scoresheet as well as an own goal for a side best served by defensive midfielder Geoff Donnan.
"He controlled the game well," Palmer said. "Been a great gain for us, come down from DK in Armidale to work in Westpac. He's a good talker."
Inverell's Joeys caused the shock of the round, beating reigning premiers Oxley Vale Attunga in Inverell while Tamworth FC had just 17 players travel to Armidale to play North Armidale Redmen in both grades.
They lost second grade 1-nil and first grade 2-nil said TFC manager Greg Bartlett.
"We had our chances too," Bartlett said. "Hayden Davidson was outstanding in both grades. The majority of the boys played two full games. They all put in big efforts."
