TAMWORTH Gymnastics Club continued a proud tradition when they contested the NSW State Championships for Level Five and Six last weekend.

Paige Seaton, competing in Level Six Division Two, placed first on floor, third on vault and bars to take out the Overall champion trophy. Competing on Level Five Division Four, Ellie Hannaford won her vault, while Jemma Baker placed third on bars. In Division Three, Skyler Dowden placed third in beam to finish eighth overall, ahead of Josie Douglas in tenth.
Sunday saw the Level Five divisions compete and Georgia Goodwin kept the flag flying by placing first on beam and second on bars to become overall champion of Level Five Division Five. Amber Downes managed to take the overall second placing by winning bars and placing second on vault on Level Five Division Three, whilst Annalise Tighe, competing in the same division, placed second on bars to finish fourth overall.
Maisie Wilde placed first on bars and second on vault to finish fourth overall on Level Five Division Two, and Sapphire Kuczer performed well to place fourth on bars and 11th overall. Marni Evans, Abbey McGrath and Lexi May all performed well over the weekend competing in Division Six, with Lexi placing third on floor and ninth overall. Abbey was 12th and Marni 13th. Last to compete was Hannah Dowden who placed second on floor, third on bars and a fourth place overall in Division Seven.
"It was a strong showing for the club with three state champions and 16 apparatus medals brought home to Tamworth from just 14 gymnasts," said club coach Jan McGinnity.
