Detectives have arrested a former Catholic priest in Armidale in relation to a number of historic child-sex offences.
State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad formed Strike Force Glenroe in July 2012 to investigate allegations of child sexual abuse by a priest based in Armidale.
About 6.30am today, detectives attached to Strike Force Glenroe and New England Local Area Command arrested a 59-year-old man at a residence in Kennedy Street, Armidale.
He was taken to Armidale Police Station, where he is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
He will appear in Armidale Court today, charged with a number of child-sex offences against three female children in the 1970s and 1980s.
Police are holding a press conference today at 1pm in Sydney
